You know those moments at work or school when you're twiddling your thumbs and wishing you had a bit more to do, just so that the day would go faster? We don't really have those moments here at FXhome. And we especially don't have them this month.

There are always multiple projects on-going here. As well as the obvious dual-development of HitFilm and our photography product PhotoKey, we're also split into multiple teams, each focusing on different parts of the big pipeline which ends with awesome software reaching your computers.

So what's happening at the moment?

In the dev room the team is working away on astonishing, top secret tech. Once it's revealed to the world we think it'll really knock off a few hats. I wish I could say more but currently it's all very hush-hush. Let's just say: think big and expect a few surprises.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the great developer/non-developer divide, we're busy preparing for two major events. First up there's the shoot for a major new video promo which is kicking off next week. Shooting in London and up here on home ground in Norfolk it's the largest scale production we've ever attempted and will serve to show off our products and also provide awesome tutorial content for this winter and 2013. Expect the video to debut later this year.

As we mentioned last week, we're also gearing up for IBC 2012. This gathering of broadcast professionals is in some ways the European equivalent of Las Vegas' NAB Show, with the added bonus (for us a least) of being a quick hop across the North Sea. Some of that aforementioned top secret tech will be revealed for the first time at the show, so make sure you come find us if you're attending.

So, that's our August. Wait until you see September.
