Ever since Hitfilm came out people have been asking that it be compatible with Mac computers. I am running hit film on an iMac through bootcamp. It would be really nice to have it compatible with the graphics cards on Mac computers. Even though I'm running it through bootcamp the quad core computer still has a hard time running it because Hitfilm does not play well with its graphics card. I know this isn't as easy as hitting a button and making it compatible but I think it would be a good move for Hitfilm considering how many VFX artists use Macs.

They've said that they might do it if there is enough demand for it. But I doubt that will be any time in the near future.

HitFilm *is* compatible with your graphics card, provided it meets our requirements. When you use bootcamp to boot your Mac into Windows, it is effectively a Windows PC. There is no emulation or virtualization involved (bootcamp is basically a haxie that patches your mac's EFI firmware to look like a BIOS to Windows).

So an OSX-native version of HitFilm wouldn't help you here - the performance would be the same with that hardware.

I'm also a Mac user and I recently bootcamped my decidedly under-spec'd 2009 Mac mini to run Windows 7 and HitFilm. It's GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 and it does run surprisingly well.

What Mac do you have? Perhaps you can upgrade your GPU?

True, but it's rather silly. How many Mac users will visit, see the specs are Windows only and then email to request a Mac version? 99% of those people will leave to forget about it or find/go back to an alternative. There's no way this will make it on Mac natively as Mac's weren't supported well at all with previous software. I love what these guys are doing but it's so frustrating being a Mac user. I can't afford to purchase the software to then have to do a lot of work arounds when I already have software that I can use natively. I demo'd the software on Bootcamp and as much as I love it, I can't afford the time it needs to work on Mac.

I ran the demo when it launched but didn't purchase. I'm on a late 2010 iMac and it seemed to work fine from the short time I played with it. I'd suggest you flip Bootcamp on and download the demo if you're looking to see how it runs.

My iMac is arriving tomorrow, and as many film companies and editors use macs I would love to see hitfilm on macs as well as it can widen your target market, instead of just the limited numbers if pc users.

Many editing studios I know use iMacs and macs, and so do many students, etc
