What do you mean by first public screening?? Like putting it on YouTube??

Also It is a shame festivals start whilst GCSE and a level exams are going on  oh well, it will leave me a month to make a film to enter into the festival, I reckon I can do it in that time (will only be 4-5 mins long though)

First public screening on the 1st January 2011 or later, is to make sure we recieve films that have been made within the past year and a half. So as long as the films have been made or first screened during this period there suitable for submission.

The deadline for entries is the 31st July, the actual festival runs from 5-7 October, so not sure if this will be during school term?

Were also running a 48 Hour Film Challenege a few weeks before the festival from the 22 – 24 September, which will be open to all as well.

Oh okay, so can put my film on YouTube before sending it it?

Also, my film is about a game, am I allowed to use the name of the game in my film, or shall I just leave the name out encase copyright or what ever?

Also last quick question.... What format does the film have to be in when sent in? (can it be in WMA, I Use windows movie maker to reduce my films size from something like 10GB down to 100mb or what ever)

Thanks!

We can't screen films that our audiences can also watch via the web but you can always have the video set to private until after the festival. Probably better to leave the games name out for copyright purposes. Film has to be sent on DVD, if selected we'll request a digital copy and contact you with requirements.

cheers.

Okay, thanks for saying because I'd probably have put my video online and end up getting disqualified! Haha

Also, I notice it says "deadline for free entries" on your site, so does that mean if you still want to enter your film but you are a week or so late you can still enter but you have to pay to enter?

Thanks

We're not sure yet, we want to encourage people to submit their films before the 31st, but we may look at adding an extended deadline if needed.

Okay, thats good to know

Also, is it alright by mentioning YouTube channels in the credits of the film? Or would you recommend all links/sponsors/etc and what not to be left out?

Okay, I have a problem with the dates of my shoot, my proper film will be filmed on the 23rd leaving me with about 3 days to edit as I need to send the film to you. So what happens if my parcel arrives to you late?
I will also be making a reserve film encase I can't do my proper one, so can I send them both in?

I wouldn't rush your film to make the deadline, make the best film you can and if your able to submit thats great if not theres plenty of opportunitues for filmmakers to have there work shown. If we do have an extended deadline you can always submit at a later date.

I'd also consider signing up for the 48 Hour Film Challenege, which could be a good way to get involved with the festival.

Well I a, going to make one earlier just encase I can't finish my main one, so I will submit my first one easily. However, if I manage to finish my second (proper one) on time can I send it in too?

(if you are wondering why I don't just make my proper one, it is because one of the actors can't film until the 23rd of July)

If I send it in via DVD, how do you want it formatted. Like a USB, so you can access the files on it? Or like a movie DVD, with all the menus and videos as soon as you put it in the player?
